Norma Jo Scaggs Bushnell

Norma Jo Scaggs Bushnell, age 69, of Salem, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. Norma was born on Sunday, December 12, 1948, the daughter of Preston and Clara Lee Duffy Scaggs who both preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her husband, Daniel W. (Danny) Bushnell. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Scaggs Brown of Raleigh, N.C.; longtime special friend, Carolee Lautenschlager; neighbor and cousin-in-law, Julie Duffy; and special friend Norma loved, Carolyn Horton, who assisted her in her last days. Norma was a 1967 graduate of Andrew Lewis High School. She was retired from Certified Auto and Truck Service with over 30 years of service. She loved her job and all of her co-workers. Norma loved nature, but especially cats. She is survived by her cat, Mr. Winfrey. We all will miss her humor and smile. A memorial service in celebration of Normas life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Rev. Hilton Jeffreys officiating. A period of visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Norma would appreciate donations to your local animal shelter or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
