Nettie Evelyn Yopp Burris

Nettie Evelyn Yopp Burris, 92, of Elliston, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 17, 2010. She was a woman who loved her family, flowers, animals, and everything in life. Preceding her in death was her husband, Charles R. Burris; son, Charles M. Burris, Sr.; son-in-law, William H. Bill Harmon; brothers, Walter Yopp and Claude Yopp; and sisters, Greta Yopp, Mary Frances Yopp, Edith Smith, Betty Giles, and Jean Stockton. Her surviving family includes her sister, Doris Perew; children, June Sowder and husband, Daniel, Linda B. Harmon, and Don Burris; grandchildren, Lissa Taylor and husband, Andy, Elizabeth Gray and husband, John, Denyse Turner and husband, Kenny, Tracy Mills and husband, Eugene, and Marty Burris; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bonita Bland, Brenda Austin, Amanda Donathan, Sara Scott Compton, and units 3 and 4 of Salem Health and Rehabilitation. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Bill Atkins and Pastor Eugene Mills will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Netties name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at P.O.
