Nellie Ruth Wimmer

Nellie Ruth Wimmer, 87, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Wimmer, Jr. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Barbara Shelton and husband, Dennis; brother, Bobby Joe Fincher; grandchildren, Sherri Brungard and husband, Mark, Sr., Donald Work, Jr. and wife, Ann, William Work and wife, Lanier, and Suzanne Shay; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Mark, Jr., Isaac, Sarah, Steve, Josh, Lindsey, Brandon, Sybella, Carter, Tim, and Matt; and great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Tiffany, Noah, Makenzie, and Brayden. Nellies family would like to thank the staff at the Salem Health & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Burial Park in Roanoke. Pastor Mike Grooms will officiate.
