Nellie (Maw) Rich Hilton, 86, of Salem and formerly of Rural Retreat, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2014. She was born on April 21, 1928 in Wythe County to the late James Rich and Maude Hale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Charles Andrew Hilton; a sister and numerous brothers. Maw was a faithful member of Locust Grove Methodist Church in Salem where she certainly will be missed. She thoroughly loved her ice cream, Kraft caramel candies, and coffee was a definite, as she had coffee nearly 24-7, but above everything else in life her utmost priority was her family. Maw took advantage of every moment she could to spend time with her loved ones! Maw was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will forever be in our hearts. She is survived by two daughters, Dottie Pafford and friend, Tim Ashwell, and Judy Foster; grandchildren, Teresa Kilby and husband, Mark, Charles Foster and wife, Elizabeth, Angela Foster and friend, Jason; great-grandchildren, Marah Kilby, Jared Kilby, Aaron Foster, Robert Foster and Allie Foster. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Stadnyk at Lewis Gale for the compassionate care given to our family during our time at the hospital. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Maws life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ben F. Lockhart, Jr. officiating.
