Nelda Irene Garrett, 85, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. A native of Salem, she was the daughter of the late Rollin C. Garrett and Clara Stump Garrett. Preceding her in death were her two sisters, Francis L. Garrett and Dorothy H. Cosner; as well as two brothers, Morris A. Garrett and Maynard W. Garrett. She was retired from Newberrys after many years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of the Green Hill Church of the Brethren. The family would like to thank the staff at Richfield Retirement Community for their care for over 20 years. A special thanks to Mrs. Shirley Cooper who God placed in her life when Nelda was in the Richfield Nursing Care facility when no immediate family was in the area. A period of visitation will take place on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem where a funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Shawn Tanner officiating. Her final resting place will be Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian organization of your choice. An online guestbook is available at www.johnmoakey.com. The Garrett family is being served by John M.
