Nancy Craig Holland Wheeler went to be with the lord on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was the loving wife of Robert "Bob" Wheeler and devoted mother to daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mike Hack, son, Robert "Robbie" Wheeler; a devoted grandmother to her grandsons, Daniel Hack (Karin) and Matthew (Matt) Poff. She cherished her two great-grandchildren, Evan, and Vivi Hack.
She is survived by her dear friend and beloved brother, Rev. Dr. "Bud" Holland, and sister-in-law, Ann Holland, and their children, Craig and Carol Holland, Eric and Deb Holland, Amanda Holland, and Gary Fogle and their children. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Karen Caves and family, Susan Wheeler and family, Gary Wheeler and family, Jill Wheeler, Beth Wheeler, Jimmy Wheeler and family, Nick Chivily and family, Suzanne and Colby Sparrow and family, Stephanie Chivily Kraut and family and the extended Chivily family along with many special cousins and extended family members. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Kay Wheeler.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Melford and Hilda Holland of Falls View, West Virginia, where she was raised and had treasured memories of "the village" and her parents-in-law, Bill and Mary Wheeler.
Nancy was a shining light of hope and kindness with many special friends whom she loved dearly. She was an inspiration to many people and never met a stranger. Her love of life was infectious, and she touched lives with her puppet ministry and music ministry for the nursing homes in the Roanoke Valley and St. Anne's Episcopal Day School, which she founded. Nancy loved life and enjoyed a good play, music, theatre, and spending time with her family. She was a strong and courageous woman, facing life's challenges with grace and determination.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem, Va. The family will receive friends in the church parish hall following the service. The burial will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Day School, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or Sleep-In-Heavenly Peace Roanoke Chapter.
