Nancy Lee Lucas

Nancy Lee Lucas, 55, of Roanoke passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from complications from recent surgery. Nancy was a graduate of the last graduating class of Andrew Lewis High School in 1977. She was a graduate of Radford University, University of Virginia School of Nursing and received her certification as a Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (WOCN) from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Surviving are her parents Richard and Nell Lucas of Salem, sister Susan Lucas of Roanoke, and daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey Norcross and Cagatay Yildiz, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, along with many relatives and close friends. Nancy was employed at Lewis-Gale Hospital where she will always be remembered by all she met for her bright, cheerful smile, and infectious laugher. She loved her work, giving each patient her utmost, heartfelt care, concern and encouragement, many of whom have stayed in close contact with her since receiving her services. Nancy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was always full of fun and ready to try new adventures but especially enjoyed time with family, friends, her flower gardens, her cats, and was an avid Hokie football fan. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A celebration of Nancy's life will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Joe Hedrick officiating.
