Nancy H. Harris, 75, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2014. She was born on January 26, 1939 to the late Paul L. Hill, Sr. and Kathleen Fisher Hill in Roanoke, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 plus years, Elmer Charles Harris. Our mother will be remembered as one who enjoyed the finer things in life. She enjoyed times of laughter with friends and loved ones, and was a very selfless person as she would help anyone in need. She was not a stranger to hard work and was a faithful employee of Kroger with over 25 years of dedicated employment. In addition to her employment, mom, along with her faithful companion Killer, Roanokes only Baptist dog, was faithful to her home church at Roanoke Avenue Baptist. Above all, mom will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Family left to cherish her memory includes her sons, John Charles Harris and wife, Dianne, and Elvis Killer Harris; daughters, Tina Marie Smith and husband Mike, and Kathleen Faye Wilson; sister, Janice Lee Hill Gray; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate moms life will be conducted on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Roanoke Avenue Baptist Church, 2202 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke, VA with Pastor James Bergquist officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. We would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Witten for the love, care and friendship you gave to our mom over the years. It will never be forgotten! A guestbook is available by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
