Nancy Carroll Boone

Nancy Carroll Boone, 69, of Salem, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 1, 2012. She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Ira Poindexter, Sr. and Mary Hickman Poindexter and had been an area resident all of her life. She was employed at Roanoke City Mills for over 20 years, and worked at ITT prior to retiring. She attended the House of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Theodore Poindexter. She is survived by her loving husband, James Curtis Boone; a daughter, Carroll Hodges and her husband Randal; three sons, Daniel Payne and his wife Barbara, Paul Boone and his wife Jeanine, Ryan Boone and his wife Carla; two brothers, Ira Poindexter, Jr., Thomas Poindexter and his wife Hannelore; a sister, Glenna Henson; six grandchildren, April Robertson and her husband Matthew, Allen Hodges, Robert E. Lee Payne, Travis Payne, Amber Boone, and Matthew Boone, as well as a great-grandson, Rylan Robertson. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the House of Prayer, 2521 Portland Ave. NW, Roanoke, VA. Pastor Gary Butcher will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Monday, December 3 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
