Miriam Abee Majors

Miriam Abee Majors, 91, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013. She was born on January 9, 1922 in Hickory, NC to the late Solomon L. and Lillie S. Abee. She was a retired Registered Nurse and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Salem. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver B. Majors, Jr.; brothers, Carroll Abee, Kenneth Abee, Jack Abee, and Russell Abee; and a sister, Mildred A. Heavner. Her surviving family includes her children, Marcus A. Majors and Laura A. Majors. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel with the Rev. Eddy Gilpin officiating. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery.
