Minnie Wygal Shawver

Minnie Wygal Shawver, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012. She was born in Olaf, VA. a daughter of the late James Henry Wygal and Verna Lowe Wygal and had also resided in Salem prior to moving to Roanoke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl P. Shawver; four brothers, Fred, Thurmond, Robert and Verlin Wygal; four sisters, Kathleen W. Francisco, Ellen W. Rutherford, Janie W. Slayton and Lorene W. Hull, and her only grandson, Carl Cameron Robinson. She is survived by her loving daughter and with whom she made her home, Karen Shawver Waterfield; a brother, Bruce Wygal and his wife Peggy of Pine Bluff, AR; sisters-in-law Margie Lee Wygal of Newport News and Fran Wygal of Salem. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and good friends and neighbors, including, John and Nancy Puckett, and Ann Quinley, all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Revs. Thomas Lee and Branan Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, this evening, Tuesday October 2, 2012 at the funeral home.
