Mildred Rash Morris

Mildred Rash Miller Morris, 91, of Salem, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her daughters home surrounded by family. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ambrose and Bessie Rash; six siblings; her son, Samuel P. Miller; and husbands, Bud H. Miller and William J Morris. Left to cherish her memory are son and stepson, Richard (Betty) Miller and Bill (Mary) Morris; daughter, Mary (Scott) Snyder; grandchildren, Nichole Miller Crist (Keith), Chris (Amanda) Rambo, Tracey (Jake) Dempsey, Jessi (DJ) Pomposini, and Erica (Josh) Logue; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Rash and Karen Morris; niece, Betty Maynard; and several grandnieces and nephews. Millie was a hairdresser for 15 years, managing a shop in her home. After the death of her first husband Millie worked for GE where she later met and married William (Bill) J. Morris. They built their home together in Daleville, Va. After retiring from GE, Bill and Millie moved to Melbourne, FL, enjoying an active life with her sisters and their families. When Bills health declined they returned to Salem to live at Richfield Retirement Community. After his death, Millie continued to live on the Richfield campus, enjoying many activities and friendships cultivated there. Our family is grateful to the staff and residents of Knollwood and The Oaks, who enriched her life with friendship and caring. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 2 until 4pm at the Shenandoah Room, Richfields Knollwood Building, 3730 Knollridge Rd, Salem, VA. A private graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to make memorials may consider Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan Hospice or any charity of choice.
