Mildred A. (Mimi) Meador, age 93, died at her home in Moneta, Virginia, on Monday, April 18, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Howard and Lena Bradley Meador, seven brothers, Francis, Howard, James, Frank , Joseph , Smyth and Lyle Meador, two sisters, Elizabeth Meador Curtiss and Lucille Meador Davis. She is survived by one sister, Gladys Meador Hoover and twelve nieces and nephews: Frank B. Meador, Jr., William N. (Bill) Meador, Martha Ann Hoover Anderson, Susan Davis Tinsley, Joseph H. Meador, Jean Hoover Robbins, Betty Hoover Tustin, Gary L. Meador, Cathie Meador Thomas, David M. Hoover, Mary Hoover Roberts, Kay Hoover Carlton and their families. Mildred was born on August 24, 1917, in Moneta, Virginia. She taught elementary school in Northern Virginia for many years. A few years after retirement, she returned to Moneta and enjoyed traveling, gardening and church activities. Her love for Christ was evident in all of her relationships. Even though she had no children, she treated each of her nieces, nephews and their children as if they were her own. The family would like to express their gratitude to Lirlie Richardson and Freda Toms who assisted the family in caring for Mimi with such love and compassion during the past five years. The family will receive friends at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Moneta, Virginia, on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be held at the church on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 3:00 PM with Rev. David Lord officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Serving His Children, 1124 Stratford Drive, Bedford, VA 24523 (a ministry in Uganda) or the Alzheimers Association Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
