Michael Scott Parsons

Michael S. Parsons, 69, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2015. He was born in Grayson County, a son of the late James A. and Virgie Wingate Parsons and had been a Salem resident since 1969. He was employed in the apparel industry all of his life and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Brady. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Loretta Gay Parsons; a son, Jim Parsons and his wife Bobbie Jo; his daughter, Sherry Meredith and her husband Doug; five grandsons, Spencer, Jacob, Will and Cameron Meredith, and Jackson Parsons; three granddaughters, Meg Meredith, and Alicia and Victoria Parsons; and a sister, Betty Brooks. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with a Graveside Service beginning at 2PM at Sherwood Memorial Park.
