Maynard Wayne Padgett, 65, of Salem, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. He was born in Roanoke, the son of the late Earl and Nora Parker Padgett and had been an area resident all his life. He was employed as a forklift operator with the Kroger warehouse for over 35 years prior to retiring in 2014. Wayne enjoyed playing pool and watching TV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Lynn Richards. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mary Hogan Padgett; two sisters, Carole Ann Webb and Rebecca Lynn Taylor; his two lifelong friends, Michael Kennedy and William Bond; and four grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
