Mary Elizabeth Walters

Mary Elizabeth Libby Walters, 72, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Salem, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 7, 1951, to the late Ella Jane Trail Lemon and Bill Lemon. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John C. "Peewee" Walters; brother, William E. Buddy Lemon; sisters, Martha Pierce, and Patsy Radford. She is survived by her husband, John W. Walters; son, AC Walters, and wife, Ashley; grandchildren, Legend Walters Moore and husband Brandon, Veronica Walters, Nick Walters, Rochele Walters, Selena James, Celest Garrett, Tallen Walters, Ally Walters, Ava Walters; and one great-grandchild, Moon Walters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastors Eddie Crabtree and Terry Wayne Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
