Mary Lou Ray, 76, of Salem, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Douglass and Shirley Snyder of Knoxville, Tenn.
She was raised in Knoxville Tenn. and moved to Roanoke in 1978, where she raised both of her children. She was a graduate of The Webb School in Knoxville and Randolph Macon Womans College in Lynchburg, Va.
She is survived by her son Pearce Ray Jr. and his wife, Melissa and their children Taylor and Cayden, of Troutville, Va.; a daughter, Jennifer Hogshead and her husband, Frank and their son Trey, of Saint Augustine, Fla.
She had a long career in real estate, working for Boone & Company and later Long & Foster. After retiring in 2015, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Marys life will be conducted on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 4 pm, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem.
Interment will be held in Highland Memorial Cemetery, in Knoxville, Tenn. at a later date.
