Mary Tavenner Morris Nichols

Mary Tavenner Morris Nichols, age 89, of Roanoke, peacefully departed this life late Wednesday night, July 15, 2015, in her sleep. She was born on January 30, 1926 in Huntington, W.Va., daughter of the late Ethel Chapman and Robert Graham Tavenner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, James Robert Morris; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. Her surviving family includes a son, Leonard Michael Morris of Catawba, Va.; granddaughter, Terri Morris Hartley of Clover, S.C.; and sister, Mildred Tavenner Moles of Pineville, N.C. A period of visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Her funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke. The Nichols family is being served by John M.
