Mary Ann Patton Melton

Mary Ann Patton Melton, 56, of Salem, VA and formerly of Max Meadows, VA passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010. She was born May 15, 1954 in Wytheville, VA daughter of Mary Elizabeth Thompson Patton of Max Meadows and the late Garnett G. Patton, Sr. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She formerly worked for Stellar One as a bank teller and was a member of the House of Prayer and dearly loved her church family. In addition to her mother she is survived by her loving husband, Leon Melton; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Tommy Helmick and Sarah and Jonathan Bayer; grandchildren, Thomas Helmick and Mary Grace Bayer; loving brother, Garnett G. Patton, Jr. and wife, Ruby; and special friend and caregiver, Scarlett King. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the House of Prayer, 2521 Portland Ave., Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the House of Prayer with Rev. Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Currie and nurse Ruth Ann at the Oncology Department of Lewis Gale for their loving support.
