Mary Parris Hollandsworth

Mary Parris Hollandsworth, 84, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2011 in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Meadowview, VA, the daughter of the late Andrew Leslie Parris and Rosa May Gray Parris and had been a Salem area resident for most of her life. She was employed for many years as a clerk at the Roanoke County Treasurers Office, followed by fifteen yeas of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Catawba Hospital, from where she retired. She was a member of Fort Lewis Christian Church and loved cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis E. Hollandsworth, who died in 2005, and a brother, Leon B. Parris. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Mason and her husband Bob of Charlotte, NC; a son, Dallis Hollandsworth of Salem; one brother, Bill Parris and his wife Louise of Salem; two grandsons, Rodney Whitlock and his wife Sylvia of Arlington, VA; Richard Whitlock and his wife Martha of Ottawa, Canada, as well as three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha and Zoe Whitlock. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Revs. Terry Elkins and William Murdock will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
