Mary is also survived by many other relatives, special friends, and the staff of South Roanoke Nursing home, especially Trish and Hope whom she considered part of the family. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and follower of Jesus. Her selflessness was demonstrated by the way she gave away her love, time, attention, and worldly possessions. She showered her love toward everyone she came in contact by the offering a cup of coffee, glass of sweet tea, a piece of homemade pound cake, many, many birthday cakes, homemade candy, a piece of gum or candy from her purse, her big, sweet smile, and her genuine greeting of Hello, how are you? How is everybody? Come back and see me. A period of visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, also in the chapel, with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary Fralin Memorial Fund through her church, New Covenant Christian Church, located at 4807 Cove Rd in Roanoke, Va. 24017. Her heart was for children, so the money will be donated to the Roanoke County Social Services Foster Children Program, where, through the years, she was a provider of care to many children who needed her special tender loving care.
