Mary Jefferson Conner

Mary Jefferson Conner, age 97, of Salem, VA, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011. She was born on August 29, 1914 in Roanoke, VA to the late Leslie and Nannie Kate Jefferson. She was also predeceased by her husband, Estral Ray Conner; 6 sisters; 2 brothers, and a son-in-law, Nicolo LoMascolo. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Geraldine (Gerry) C. LoMascolo and the children and family of her late husband, Nicolo LoMascolo, and Lona C. Downing and husband, Larry; grandson, Troy Downing and wife, Lenora, of Salem, VA; granddaughter, Dawn D. Gartner and husband, Mike, of Vienna, VA; and great-granddaughters, Jordan Downing, Ashley Gartner, and Allison Gartner. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. There will be no period of visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road #106 in Roanoke, VA 24018-3551.
