Mary Amanda Bayne, 59, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2015.
She was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late James W. Cooper and Bivvie Craighead Cooper and had been an area resident all of her life. She was employed as a teachers assistant with the Roanoke City School System for many years, most recently assisting with special education students, whom she loved dearly, at Lucy Addison Middle School. Mary enjoyed being outdoors, browsing flea markets and second hand shops for trinkets and treasures, but most of all spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Clyde E. Gene Bayne; two sons, Brandon Bayne and fiance Ashlee Gattuso, and Carman Bayne and fiance Janette Leech; a daughter, Aundrea Tyree and husband Wes; a brother, David Cooper and wife Janet; nine grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral home, Salem. Pastor James T. Bayne will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
