Marvin Luther 'Sandy' Reese

Marvin L. Sandy Reese, 56, of Salem, Va. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1962 to Curtis and Dixie Reese. Sandy worked at WDBJ7 for 35 years and he cherished the friendships that he made during his career. He was a talented musician and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. Sandy had many interests including: listening to music (especially traditional country), grilling, learning about music history, and collecting memorabilia. He loved Jesus, and the light that dwelled within him was exemplified through his love for people in the way that he never met a stranger. Sandy loved to laugh and make people laugh, he was adored by many. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Mary Reese; and maternal grandparents, Wade and Fern Thompson. Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents are his daughter, Kelsey Reese and fianc, Zachary Walter; brother, Charlie Reese; and special companion, Sharon Altizer. A funeral service to celebrate Sandys life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem with Donna Hopkins Britt officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
