Martha Ellen Roop

Martha Ellen Roop, 85, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Mary Stover Farris; husband, Delmas Roop; children, Mary Ellen Stanley, Rebecca Patsel, and Ronald Roop; and siblings, Lorraine Carroll, Lois Farris, Curtis Farris, Sr., and Jack Farris. Her surviving family includes children, Danny Roop and wife, Charlotte, Emma Millsaps, and A. Michael Roop; brothers, Clarence Farris and wife, Esther, and Russell Farris and wife, Janie; sisters, Jean Roberts, Charlotte Hall, Sue Reedy, and Cathy Carter; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family expresses sincere thanks to the entire Lewis-Gale Surgical ICU for their wonderful care. A period of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
