Mark “Andy” Phoenix, Sr., 63, of Shawsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Andy was born November 17, 1962, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wesley Phoenix and Charlotte Ann Phoenix; his grandparents, Fred Wilson Phoenix (Frances) and Oakey Wirt (Diane); his uncle, Bobby Phoenix; and his nieces, Tonya Wall and Jeanna Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Charlotte McNeil Phoenix; his children, Christy, Patrick (Chris), and AJ Phoenix (Jessica); his grandchildren, Cody Bower (Laiken), Brandon Kingery, Brantley Patrick, Mason Phoenix, and Layla Patrick; his great-granddaughter, Oaklyn Bower; his siblings, Tony Phoenix (Dorothy), Martha Grady (Bill), Bruce Phoenix, and Lynn Phoenix (Brandi); as well as several nieces, nephews, longtime friends, and his special dog, Magnum.
Andy enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, cooking and grilling out, telling jokes, and reminiscing about old memories with those he loved.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Blue Ridge Cancer Care & Center, Dr. Goldschmidt and staff, Dr. Buck, Dr. Yeaton, Carilion Hospice, Carilion Home Health and the staff at CNRVMC and Roanoke Memorial for their care and support.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church, with Pastor Brandon Welcher officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
