Mark Wayne Burnette

Mark Wayne Burnette, of Salem, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born in Roanoke, VA to the late Clovis Aubrey Sunny and Clara Fortner Burnette on June 20, 1955, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Andy. Mark was a family man who was happiest when his family was all gathered together. Saturdays were spent working in the yard and when the work was done, he enjoyed playing cards when the sun went down. Above all, he cherished his wife, Charlotte. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Godsey Burnette; sons, Dennis Mitchell Denny and his wife, Michelle, and Mark Burnette, Jr. and wife, Heather; daughter, Jill Burnette; grandchildren, Haley, Mitch, Caitlin, Justin, Stephanie, P.J., Maegan, Lexi, Logan, Landon, and Zoe; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The family will welcome friends on Sunday, August 14, 2022, in the Upper Parlor of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Sherwood Memorial Park, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Tommy Blewett officiating.
