Marjorie Helen
Vest
April 7, 1931 – March 22, 2026
Sherwood Memorial Park
11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Helen Vest, 94 of Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Born April 7, 1931, in Floyd, Va, to the late Frank Hill Wimmer and Hassie Nester Wimmer.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Preston Vest; sons, Stephen Vest and David Vest; and survived by their wives, Gale Vest and Gail Vest; brothers, Harry Wimmer and Ronnie Wimmer.
Helen was a preacher's daughter who grew up at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, as the bible says in James 1:22, “Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says”. That is the life that Helen lived until the very end.
The love of her family is what kept her going. Cooking for her was not a chore; it was her love language. Stopping by for a visit meant leaving with a full stomach and leftovers for the road. Not only was she an outstanding cook, but she also enjoyed working in her flower garden and had an eye for decorating.
To know Helen was not just a privilege; it was an honor.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Amy Vest-Arnold and her husband, Chris, Eric Vest and his wife, Sally, Madeline Walk and her husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren include Gray, Payten, Easton, Jillian and her husband, Patrick, Sam, Holly, Piper, and Maebie.
An intimate graveside will be held at Sherwood Burial Park on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the life of an amazing lady!
