Margretha Ann Greth Vandike, 76, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 29, 1943, to the late Ivan and Martha (Maihl) Kinzer. Moms personality and work ethic were extremely evident in the numerous ways she served. Her public service involvement included, but was not limited to, her appointment on the board of directors of the Salem Museum, Registrar for the Daughters of American Revolution, or the D.A.R., member of the Red Hat Society and the Historical Society, and former president of the Ladies Ministry and member of Salem Church of Christ. She had an extreme passion for genealogy, and not for her family only, but served numerous familys in research. After 35 of faithful service to the federal governments Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), she happily retired. To say the least, mom never let the dust settle under her feet and was happy to help another in need. Above all, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor, as she simply knew how to brighten your day and lighten your heavy heart. Mom will certainly be missed! In addition to her parents, mom was preceded in death by her brother, James (Jimmy) Kinzer. Eric Vandike, of Salem, survives her, along with numerous friends.
