Margaret Wilson Scott, 89, formerly of Oak Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Salem, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Eliza E. Wilson; three sisters; and one brother. Margaret was born in Mountain City, TN and was raised in Elizabethton, TN.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Donald Don G. Scott of Salem, VA; daughters, Elizabeth Scott Vincel (Norm) of Salem, VA and Reverend Nancy Scott Eberhard (Rev. Greg) of West Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Whitney, Amy, and Emily Vincel, and Scott, Steve, John, and Dan Eberhard.
Margaret majored in music at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. She was a gifted piano player who taught private lessons for many years, and was active in the Oak Ridge Music Club, having served as president. She was also an active member of P.E.O. Chapter R where she held several offices, as well as belonging to the DAR. Church was an important part of Margarets life and she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, attending the Friendship Sunday School Class, playing the piano, and serving as a Deacon.
It was hard to think of Margaret without thinking of flowers. She loved tending to her flower gardens and finding new plants to add to her beautiful yard. She also loved to travel and over the years was able to see a good portion of the world.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge on Saturday, November 21, 2015. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that any memorials be made in Margarets name to First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, 1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike.Interment Location
