Margaret Louise Patterson 'Pat' Ware

Margaret Louise Pat Patterson Ware, 89, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, entered into His glory on November 20, 2011 at Emeritus at Eastover in Charlotte, N.C. She was born on April 27, 1922 in Roanoke, Va. to William Jennings Patterson and Elizabeth DeBusk Patterson. Pat was a very involved member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church for 28 years, serving as a lay leader and adult Sunday School teacher. She established the Crib Ministry for needy infants and the Caring Committee through which she and husband, Willard Lee Ware, currently of Charlotte, N.C., delivered food to the needy. She also was a volunteer at RAM House and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. In addition to her loving husband of 67 years, other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jerry Kandies of Cleveland, Miss., and Debra and Don Hatley of Charlotte, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Robin Ware of New Bern, N.C.; daughter, Emily Wooten of Roanoke; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Chitwood and Dorothy Moore of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Patterson of Louisville, Ky., and Marie Ware McDonald of Alexandria, Va. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Greene Memorial Church in Roanoke. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem following the service. The Ware family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, 540-389-5441.
