Margaret Ellen Robertson

Margaret Ellen Robertson, 70, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. She had struggled with her health for many years, and survived with the love and devotion of her husband. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Ray and Hattie Hodge Holt and siblings Gay White, Mamie Reynolds, David, Evertt and Roy Holt. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, George Robertson, Sr.; a son, George Robertson, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Alexandria, VA; two daughters, Wendy Rice and her husband Jeff of Reno, NV; Karen Justesen and her husband Larry of Chester, VA; a brother, Emmitt Holt and his wife Mary; four sisters, Fannie Stanley, Nannie Sharp and her husband Samuel, Roxie Richardson and her husband Robert, and Patsy Telligman; five grandchildren, Theresa, Steven, Ellen, Eric and Lexi; and two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Liam. Margaret had a great love for Dr. Fintel of the Lewis-Gale Oncology Center, Dr. Green at Lewis-Gale, her family physician, Dr. Benning and Dr. Fintels associate Elizabeth, who held a special place in Margarets heart. The family also expresses their sincere appreciation to the many other caregivers and friends who stood by them during her illness. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Brian Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, September 16, 2011 from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home.
