Marci Renee Buckles Tickle

Marci Renee Buckles Tickle, 39, formerly of Salem, VA passed away suddenly but peacefully on Thursday August 15 2013 in Atlanta Georgia after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband and best friend, John Carlton Tickle, parents Jim & Trudy Buckles, Sister and brother in law, Lynn & Tim Johnson, very special nieces, Lindsay, Sydney & Katie Johnson. Also surviving are her father and mother in law, Johnnie & Debbie Tickle, Sister in law and husband, Stacey & Scott Sheppard and nephew, Seth Sheppard. As well as extra special friends and family, Melissa, Noah & Meryleen Tickle. And, many more extended family and special friends. She was born September 10 1973 and went to nursing school at Radford University where she obtained her Bachelors degree in nursing and, upon graduation went to serve her country in the US Navy. She worked hard helping others and became a Lieutenant JG, and a lead nurse helping those wounded during service. Serving her country was her true passion. Years later, she was afflicted with kidney disease and many other illnesses. She was sick often and was cared for by her loving husband and family. Marci will be greatly missed but we know she is in heaven suffering no more. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 11 am from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Evangelist Johnnie Tickle officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4 to 6 pm. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park with full military honors.
