Manuel Antonio Sanchez Tapia, 83, of Roanoke, Va. and originally from Ecuador, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2023.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church as well as a community church key holder. His interests including walks, playing cards, and gold panning, was a fan of Coke Zero and coffee, and a lover of Ecuadorian cuisine. Farming and herding was his trade.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Apolinario Sanchez and Aurora Tapia.
His surviving family includes his wife, Rosa Adelaida Cardenas; children, Teofilo, Tomas, Natividad, Juan, Geovanny, Rudy, Germania, and Javier; siblings, Raquel Sanchez, Jose Sanchez, and Tomas Sanchez; grandchildren, Marlene, Mery, Mayra, Jonathan, Michael, Pamela, Amy, Tommy, Naylen, Johnny, Geovani, Fernando, Bryan, Jessica, Elian, Andy, Denny, Belinda, Kelly, Makayla, Katy, Anael, Domenica, Angelica, Aurora, Sebastian, and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Tony, William, Sophia, Lance, Ashley, Kenny, Mia, Analeigh, and Logan.
A celebration of Manuels life will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. Family members and friends may gather for visitation beginning at 5 p.m. with a service following at 6:30 p.m.
