Madison Ashley Powell

Madison Ashley Powell, our precious angel, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ as well as her nannie, Annabelle, on Sunday, September 5, 2010. Madison was 7 years old and a resident of Salem, VA. She was born on May 13, 2003 with severe Cerebral Palsy and fought this illness daily. Madison was cherished and loved by everyone who knew her and touched many lives while on this earth. She is survived by her parents, Glenn and Lorie Powell of Salem; her grandparents, Ken Powell, who was also her guardian angel and caregiver 7 days a week, and Christine Powell, of Salem; pawpaw, John Gilliam of Natural Bridge; uncle and aunt, Rob and Desiree Almond of Salem; another aunt, Tammy Argenbright of Natural Bridge; cousins, Elizabeth Almond of Salem and Morgan Argenbright of Natural Bridge; and many other extended family members and close friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Carilion Clinic as well as Drs. Joan Fisher, Michael Hart, Joseph Tamez, Michael Meyers, Stacy Steans, Carilion Hospice, the entire 11th floor CRMH nursing staff, and Walgreens in Salem. The family will accept visitors on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. also in the chapel. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Kingery will officiate.
