Mabel Rosa Rector Adkins

Mabel Rose Rector Adkins, 92, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Freil F. and Cecil Lowe Rector; husband, Walter George Adkins; brothers, Roger Rector and Ray Rector; and sisters, Maxine Harder and Leone Barker. Her surviving family includes her son, Gene Adkins and wife, Janice, of Salem; grandchildren, Michael Adkins and Mark Adkins and wife, Ann, all of Salem; great-grandchildren, Joshua Adkins and Ashlyn Adkins, both of Salem; and sisters, Kathy Hawkins and Shirley Boyer of Roanoke. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery. An online guestbook is available at www.johnmoakey.com.
