Luther Harold Crawford, 87, of Salem, Va., and formerly of Kingsport, Tenn., died peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Luther was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Kazim Shriners, and was a truck driver professionally. His hobbies included golf and NASCAR racing. He loved Ford trucks. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Pearl Crawford; wife of 60 years, Bess Crawford; and son, Mitch Crawford. His surviving family includes his daughter, Lisa Engelke and her husband, Karl; one he loved like a grandson, Karson Krsul; and siblings, Thomas Crawford, Geraldine Scalf, and Joyce McMurray. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. Luther will be laid to rest at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the Church Hill Family Cemetery in Church Hill, Tenn. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
