Louvenia Hale

Joyce Hale, age 88, of Salem, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, in Salem. She was born on Saturday, December 12, 1931, to the late George and Janie DeHart. Joyce spent her life sharing her gift of music, as she was noted for being an extraordinary pianist. While raising a family, working her job, and managing her home, she found the time to serve as the pianist for several Baptist churches in the area. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ralph Hale; and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Hale, Danny Hale and wife, Lori, and Jeffrey Hale; grandchildren, Chanda Fox and partner, Jimmy, Somer Fox, Jake Anderson and wife, Becky, Jason Hale and wife, Jenny, and Spring Clinevell and husband, Jeff; nine great-grandchildren; as well as her grand-cats. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Butts Family Cemetery in Salem.
