Louise Dawson Hall

Louise Dawson Hall, 95, of Salem, died Saturday, October 27, 2012. She was born to Hallie Stratton and Lewis Edward Dawson on February 2, 1917. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church where she served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was also on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Lake Spring Garden Club. Louise is survived by her children and spouses, Caleb Litteljohn Hall, Jr. and Linda Johnston Hall, Catherine Hall Powell and William Nicholas Powell, and David Wiley Hall and Joyce Stone Hall; grandchildren and spouses, William Nicholas Powell, Jr. and Amy Bushar Powell, John Paul Powell and Shaleen Tethal Powell, James Stratton Powell, Kelly Joy Hall, Elizabeth Adams Hall, Katherine Hall Deal and Walter Frank Deal IV, and Anne Stratton Hall. Great grandchildren include William Nicholas Powell III, Thomas Stratton Powell, Walter Stratton Deal, and Saba Louise Powell; sister in law Lellen Rice Dawson; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Christine Hancock, Tammy Jackson, and Regina Bryant also survive. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband Caleb Litteljohn Hall; sisters, Virginia Lynn Trout, Camille Wiley Sullivan, Jeanne Dawson Shelor; brothers, Robert Custer Dawson and Lewis Edward Dawson, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 42 East Main Street, Salem, VA 24153, or the Salem Rescue Squad, 201 South Broad Street, Salem, VA 24153.
