Louise Creech Counts

**WEATHER ADVISORY** Due to the inclement weather, the funeral services for Mrs. Louise Counts, originally scheduled for 11AM, Saturday, February 21, will be held at 2PM, Sunday, February 22 at the Funeral Home. Louise Creech Counts, 95, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. She was born in Wise County, a daughter of the late Georgia Kate Slaughter Creech and had been a Salem resident for most of her life. She served as a Past President of the Virginia Rebecca Assembly and was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Salem. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Counts, Sr. She is survived by two sons, Roger Counts, and John S. Counts, Jr. and his wife Lendy; two daughters, Nancy C. Johns, and Robin C. Garrett and her husband Dennis; two brothers, Robert Creech and his wife Sue, and Herbert Creech and his wife Barbara; a sister, Mildred C. Pickel and her husband Leroy; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks for the love, care and compassion provided by the staff of Snyder Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Dan Netting will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at the funeral home beginning at 2 PM, Friday, February 20, 2015, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
