Louise Ann Barksdale

Louise A. Barksdale, 90, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born on October 1, 1923 in Rocky Mount, VA to the late Benjamin H. Davis and Pearl Snow Jones Davis. Louise grew up in the Christian church, and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed golf, skiing, gardening and birds, and she loved playing Bridge. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters. Family left to cherish her memory include numerous nieces and nephews and her life long companion, Dr. Marci Cannon. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. A memorial service to honor Louises life will be conducted on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob West officiating. Interment will be private. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff of Gentle Shepard Hospice and Lewis Gale CCU.
