Lorraine Wimmer Richardson Bowles, 85, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012. She was a Virginia Tech Hokies fan and avid Bridge player, and also enjoyed golf and traveling. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lewis and Sarah Wimmer; first husband, Harold W. Richardson; brother, Ray Wimmer; and sister, Dora (D.D.) Sutphin. Her surviving family includes her husband, Edward T. Bowles; children, Janis Jarrett and husband, Butch, Ann Rule, and Harold (Richie) Richardson and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Amy, Will, James, Heather, and Summer; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jaxson; brothers, Lewis Wimmer, Jr. and wife, Polly, and Jack Wimmer and wife, Ann; and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the entire Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation Center staff as well as Dr. John Zimmerman for their wonderful care. A memorial service celebrating Lorraines life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Pastor Stafford Federich officiating. A period of visitation will immediately follow until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lorraines memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association at 3959 Electric Road in Roanoke, VA 24018.
