Lorene J. Hale (Tootsie, Tooie or Toodley), 89, of Salem and originally of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
Ms. Hale was born on April 1, 1926 in Bedford County, Va. to the late Clarence Wilson Johnson and Eva Turner Johnson.
She was a long time member of Salem Baptist Church; she thoroughly enjoyed bird watching and gardening, however, she will be remembered mostly as a loving wife and mother, and for the love she rendered as a caretaker to her husband for years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Carlton L. Hale and her son, Michael L. Hale.
Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her son, Donnie Hale and wife, Belinda; granddaughter, Morgan Hale and numerous friends throughout Salem and Bedford.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Everett Kier officiating. Interment will follow in Quaker Baptist Church Cemetery in Bedford.
The family would like to especially thank Kim Weeks for all of the compassion and care assistance for Ms. Hale during her illness!
