Lorell Mathena

Lorell Underwood Mathena, 84, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 5, 2026.

She was born on Thursday, July 17, 1941, in Salem, Virginia, to the late John Andrew and Helen Lucille Underwood.

In addition to her parents, Lorell was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Douglas Mathena; sisters, Frieda Hall and Janie Coffman; and her brothers, Johnny, David, and Tim Underwood.

Lorell is survived by her only daughter, Angie Webb; special son-in-law, Patrick; her two special grandsons, Sean Webb and Blake Webb; her sisters, Betsy Hodges and Becky Barnett (Billy); and brother, Patrick Underwood (Linda).

Lorell has many special nieces and nephews, friends, and cousins that meant a lot to her. Lorell was a member of the New Covenant Christian Church and loved her church family. Her loving, caring nature, wonderful laugh, and spunkiness will be missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel located at 305 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem, Virginia. The Rev. Chris Kingery will officiate.
