Loraine Betty Matousek Sigerich, 84, of Salem passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. She was born on December 13, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late James and Barbora Matousek. Loraine was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church since 1971. She was also a member of the Roanoke Garden Club and Salem Seniors. She loved gardening, especially her roses, ceramic making, ballroom dancing, and traveling, both locally and abroad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nicolas Sigerich, Sr. She is survived by her son, Joseph Nicolas Sigerich, Jr., and wife Lisa of Salem; daughter, Darlene Barta and husband Joseph of Woodridge, Ill; three grandsons, Joseph Nicolas Sigerich, III of Salem, Daniel J. Barta of Woodridge, Ill, and Joseph M. Barta, of Berwyn, Ill; and many nieces and nephews. The Sigerich family would like to thank the caring staff of Amedisys Hospice Services for their care and support during Loraines illness. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Dean Nastos officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son with a Trisagion service beginning at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Huntington Blvd, NE, Roanoke, VA 24012.
