Lois Connie Wood

Lois Connie Wood, 82, of Salem, Va. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Born in Panther, West Virginia, on May 3, 1941, to the late William Carson and Marjorie Peters May, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Herman May. Lois was a go-getter who never shied away from hard work, or shopping! She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially fishing at Smith Mountain Lake in warm weather and at Christmastime with her family. Lois personified sacrificial love to those around her and had many godchildren whose lives she poured into and whom she genuinely loved. She was a loving pastors wife and ministry partner to her husband Ernest, pastoring and shepherding by his side for nearly 69 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rev. Ernest R. Wood; son, Bobby (Teresa) Wood; daughters, Lisa (Gary) Akers and Renee (Eric) Boyd; grandchildren, Jessica (Dustin) Arrington, Nicole (Chad) Morris, Josh (Sarah) Fox, and Dani (Kevin Nabor) Wood; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Oakley, Lara, Taylor, Mavis, and Riley; sister, Bonnie Turman; sister-in-law, Judy May, as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. The family will welcome friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Services will be conducted on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Holiness 5116 Springfield Ave., Roanoke, Virginia.
