Lois Mae Poff Walker, 88, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 16, 2013. Lois was born in Roanoke to the late Roy and Mamie Poff on May 20, 1925. She was an active member in Glenvar Baptist Church for many years. She will truly be missed and remembered for her family meals on Sunday, as she provided for her family as a homemaker for many years. She will be remembered by all who loved her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine Rash. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Edward Walker; sons, Larry Walker (Nona) of Roanoke, VA; Mark Walker (Sandra) of Westminster, MD; Dean Walker (Carol) of Eugene, OR; and daughter, Brenda Simmons (Larry) of Salem, VA; grandchildren, Rebecca, Ryan, Emily, Jesse, Anna, Jenny, Hallie, Graham, Clay, Matthew, and a special grandchild and caregiver, Michelle Sachenbacher. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19th from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Mrs. Walkers life will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20th at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, as well as Tiffany and Kathren, for all of their love and care.
