Lois Howard Taliaferro

Lois Howard Taliaferro, 97, of Salem, passed peacefully from time to eternity on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beulah Creasy Howard and Edward P. Howard; husband, James Robert (Bob) Taliaferro; son, James (Jim) Taliaferro; sisters, Christine Profitt and Lillian Poff; and brother, Elmer (Spick) Howard. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Barnhart and husband, Arthur, Patricia Weaver and husband, Kenneth, and Linda Boone and husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Rixine Taliaferro; sister, Regina Stamper and husband, Pete; and sister-in-law, Pat Howard. Also surviving her are 9 grandchildren, Steve Barnhart and wife, Lisa, Randy Barnhart and wife, Wendy, Marianne B. Lecesne and husband, John Duke, Jay Taliaferro and wife, Elizabeth, Janie T. Alley and husband, Morgan, Beverly Weaver, Jeff Weaver and wife, Julie, Victor Boone, and Jodi L. Flinchum and husband, Ben. She was Mee-Maw to 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; very attentive and loving nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. Lois was a Christian and longtime member of the Church of Christ on West Main Street in Salem. To know her was to love her, for she was lovely and dearly loved others. Though her eyes grew dim with age, her spirit remained sharp and her memory and love for Christ and others never faded. She will be long remembered and greatly missed by family and friends. Her family expresses appreciation for the tender loving care given her these past several years by the caregivers and staff of Snyder Nursing Home. A time of visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Church of Christ at 401 W. Main Street in Salem with Minister Eric Evans officiating.
