Lois Audrey Hairfield Horne

Lois Audrey Hairfield Horne, 99 of Roanoke Co. / Salem, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2012. She was born on February 14, 1913 to the late George & Bessie Hairfield of Roanoke, VA. She was one of eight siblings of which have all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burrell D. Horne, and her daughter, Geraldine Horne McNutt Goodwin. Lois is survived by her oldest son, Bobby Horne of Salem; daughter, Janet Jenny H. Reed, also of Salem; son, Richard Wayne Horne, of Olathe, CO; and son, George R. Horne, also of Salem. Fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Lois was a wonderful mother and seamstress, as she worked for years for Maid Bess and Kenrose, from where she also retired. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, and we will never forget her wonderful cooking on Sundays as well as the holidays. She was a long time member of Mountain Baptist Church in Roanoke County, where she and her husband were among the founding members. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastor Jack Richards, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
