Linwood Leon "Linny" Shaffer Jr.

Linwood (Linny) Leon Shaffer, Jr., 64, of Buchanan, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Linny was a huge animal lover, and also enjoyed helping anyone at any time. His surviving family includes his mother, Helen Shaffer; brother, Eric; and sister, Rehnee. Other survivors include his nephews, Christopher, Sterling, and Lachlan; great-nieces, Madisyn and Raelyn; and several cousins. He also leaves his dearest friend, Danny Austin. Linny had so many people in his life that he loved; it would be hard to name them all, but they were all special to him. Family and friends may gather from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. All are welcome to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Tom McCracken will officiate.
